Making life worth living and dreams come true for neglected
or in-crisis children
THE BIG PICTURE: (In 2003 in the U.S.,
according to the National Council on Child Abuse and Neglect Data
System, 906,000 children were documented to have been neglected
or abused: out of the 3,000,000 children cases that where referred
to the various Child Protective Services for investigation. Of these
cases 61% were neglect, 19% were physical abuse, 10% were sexual
abuse and 5% were emotional abused.) These are only the reported
cases.
WHAT THIS MEANS: While there were 906,000 documented
cases of neglect or abuse, only 297,000 children entered the States'
Foster Care systems that same year. This means that there was a
minimum of 600,000 at-risk children still living in families that
potentially needed help providing a safe home.
WHERE DOES BETHEL FIT IN? These 600,000 children
and their families that need organizations like Bethel Bible Village.
Bethel serves as an extended family during their crisis.
